Maria Boulden is known as the “CSO Whisperer”. She has been a thought partner to CSOs, CROs,
and CCOs globally on executive leadership, strategy, and tactical execution since joining Gartner in
2019. She also leads the team of Executive Partners for the Gartner Sales Practice.
Maria graduated Summa Cum Laude from Drexel University with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Chemical Engineering and spent 33 years with DuPont. The last 10 of those years were leading
the sales function for the Safety & Construction portfolio ($6B), including brands such as Kevlar®,
Nomex®, Tyvek®, and Corian® are in her remit. As a proven business leader and sales executive, she
has created, led, motivated, coached, and challenged global teams to achieve excellence. This
has included management of strategic multinational accounts, the channels to access them, the
sales teams that call on them, and the functions that support them. Maria has a proven capability to
apply business and marketing strategy to sales strategy and execution. She built her career on
exceptional communication skills, the ability to build world-class sales teams, and an
unprecedented track record of profitable revenue growth.
Certified in advanced negotiations, channel management, and the CEB’s Challenger Training,
Maria leads by example by living these best practices, by personally training her teams in them, and
by delivering successfully within their framework.
Maria and her husband Ron are the proud parents of 4 amazing kids and also have 4 energetic
grandchildren. She is an avid runner and loves any combination of sun, sand, and surf.
